Song Submission

Song Submission is for Songwriters

The Bottom Line Up Front: There are no up-front fees. Eclectic House Publishing only gets paid when you get paid for the use of your songs. So unlike other publishing companies, we don't charge fees for you to submit your material.

Eclectic House Publishing welcomes the opportunity to seek and present the published music of emerging songwriters and artists. As with any publishing company, the decision to publish a particular work depends upon many issues. If you have a song or composition that you feel is of professional quality, please feel free to contact us about whether it might be the kind of piece we are currently seeking for our publication schedule.

If you're a songwriter let us know about it. Send your songs on CD, via email (mp3 only), or via website and we'll  listen to them.  We'll send you an e-mail letting you know we received your submission.

In any case, please send us an e-mail notifying us that you are requesting to submit a song or songs.  Your e-mail should outline your style of music along with a short bio about you as a songwriter.  Also, if you have a website or MySpace, please give us the appropriate addresses. If you have music online for us to listen to, we'll be happy to check it out.

Please ensure that you indicate in your request that it is a song submission and not an artist submission.  An artist submission is in a different category (i.e., CD production and artist promotion).  Keep in mind that in this instance we are looking for good songs from songwriters to put into the catalogue.  We'll listen to everything that comes into our office.  We will do out best to provide feedback to you in a reasonable amount of time.  If we like what we hear and can use it in our catalog, we'll call you.

Send your music to:

Eclectic House Publishing
641 Mockingbird Ln
Eclectic, AL 36024

or email: ghs@guesthousestudios.com

Keep in mind that every now and then we get inundated with song submissions and it's impossible to respond to everyone.  We ensure we take out time to do the best job possible for the songwriters we currently represent. After we review your song (we review your songs individually no matter how many you submit, we will respond with via email with "ACCEPT" or "PASS."

PASS
If you receive a "PASS" on your material, please don't get discouraged.  We actually encourage you to keep working on your songwriting.  Keep working to improve and please continue to submit your songs as you master your songwriting skills.

Also, we make every attempt to provide some level of feedback on your submitted material, which is a good thing.  Now you get independent feedback that isn't your friends, family, neighbors, or family pet.

There are many reasons why we pass on a particular song.  If could be that the songwriting in general could be better or it may be a nicely written song but doesn't necessarily fit our catalog.  If you want to get an idea of what we are looking for, turn on any radio station and listen to the songs at the top of the contemporary christian, worship, and country charts. Those songs are what you should be striving for to make it into our catalog

ACCEPT
If you receive an "ACCEPT" on your material, we'll provide you with additional instructions on how to get your song or songs into our catalog.  We will help you work out the copyright, licensing, and/or credit arrangements.

Once your song is in the catalog we aggressively pursue and "pitch" your song as "song use" opportunities come about  We'll seek out opportunities for your songs and pitch them to the entertainment industry. We'll also negotiate licensing deals and secure song placement in local television and radio ads, soundtracks, compilations, advertisements, and with other artists.

Eclectic House Publishing will enter into a Publishing Agreement with you, the songwriter. In many cases we'll execute a per-song publishing contract. Before getting started we'll need to be sure you are set up to properly enter into a Publishing Agreement.  All songwriters must affiliate themselves with with ASCAP or BMI before entering into a publishing agreement. If you are a BMI songwriter, then you will work with Eclectic House Publishing.  Eclectic House Publishing is only a BMI member.  Guest House Studios is working to create an entity as an ASCAP member.

In the Publishing Agreement, Eclectic House Publishing will receive 25% of the publishing portion of your song.  If you are your own publisher, you can reassign a percentage of the work.  You can't assign your song to more than one publisher, if you have already given the entire publishing rights to another publisher.  In other words, if your song has been assigned fully, or 100% based on BMI, or 50% based on ASCAP, then you will have to either revise your publishing interest, by changing the publishing interest of your songs, or changing the title of the song, and version you use with us.  The purpose of doing this is to ensure that there are no discrepancies as to who the publisher of your work is.  The intent is to prevent two publishers in conflict over the same song.

Administration

Our administration services includes completing copyright registrations at the U.S. Library of Congress and performing rights societies, issuing mechanical and synchronization licenses, collecting royalties, and generating artist and songwriter royalty statements.  We also ensure that your songwriter rights are protected and do our utmost to assist with your career development.

We will promote the material you license with us right here through our Song Catalogue.

Licensing

Through licensing deals you can generate income from the use of your songs, in which we administrate for you.
